The Books

Three novels, one story

The Beneath trilogy

Set on the Atlantic coast of Cornwall and finished in full, so you can read from the first page of Book One to the last page of Book Three without waiting a year in between.

Book one

Beneath The Lighthouse

The sea remembers what the town tried to forget.

A body in the water, a sister lost twenty years ago and a tunnel that goes deeper than anyone thinks. Emma Trelawney comes home to Porth Trevan and finds the village still keeping its oldest secret.

Book two

Beneath The Signal

The truth was only the beginning.

Six months on, the village has turned Emma’s story into postcards and tea towels. Then a journalist knocks with questions about who else was involved, and May Hollis’s sister is still waiting for someone to believe her.

Book three

Beneath The Wire

Some networks were never meant to be found.

In the small hours at a Cornish cable station, a night engineer finds a line in the routing logs that shouldn’t exist, dated 1961. Before the day is out, a stranger has handed Emma an envelope, and Lucas’s grandfather is being asked about a crossing he made that same year.

Questions readers ask

Do I need to read them in order?

Yes. Each book follows on directly from the one before, and the later books assume you know what happened earlier. Start with Beneath The Lighthouse.

Is the trilogy finished?

It is. Beneath The Wire is the third and final book, and all three are available now.

What kind of thriller is it?

It begins as a coastal mystery: a missing sister, a body in the water and a village that would rather not talk. As the trilogy goes on it opens out into espionage, each book reaching further from Porth Trevan while the heart of the story stays at the harbour.

Is there strong language, sex or graphic violence?

There’s danger, suspense and the odd body in the water, but no explicit scenes, no graphic violence and almost no swearing. It’s a series you can comfortably lend to anyone in the family.

How long are the books?

Each one is a full-length novel of around 73,000 to 78,000 words.

Which formats can I buy?

Kindle ebook and paperback, both on Amazon. The Spanish translations are on Amazon.es.

Is Porth Trevan a real place?

No, though anyone who knows the far west of Cornwall will recognise it. A few real places turn up later in the trilogy, including the cable station at Porthgwarra.

Can I read them in Spanish?

Sí. All three are translated: Bajo el Faro, Bajo la Señal and Bajo el Cable. See the Spanish editions.

Enjoyed one of the books?

A short review on Amazon helps more than you might think. It’s how new readers decide to take a chance on a book, and even a line or two makes a real difference.
